What is the YEAH Program?

The YEAH Program is a Co-ed youth education program that’s primary goal is to create awareness in today’s younger generation on the benefits that exercise and health bring to life, by developing a life-long model for fitness and nutrition in a safe and fun environment.

Where are you located?

Currently we operate our program at middle schools in Montgomery County, MD. We plan on expanding our program to several other middle schools and private schools in the D.C. metropolitan area.

What is the length of your program?

Typically our program runs for an 8 week period, one time per week, for one hour per day. Most of the programs take place directly on the school campuses right after the school day. We can alter that program structure to accommodate your needs.

What is the YEAH Method?

The YEAH Method is our trademarked training model and philosophy. We feel this is what differentiates us from other youth fitness companies. The foundation of the YEAH Method is a multi-lateral approach to training, which helps kids develop proper movement patterns and reduce the risk of injury.

How can I get my child enrolled in the YEAH Program?

You can contact any of our staff and we will gladly help find the most effective way to either get your child into an existing program or get the program started at their school.

Is there an age limit for participants in the YEAH Program?

The YEAH Program provides their services to boys and girls ages 8 to 14.

How much does the Program cost?

The price of the program varies depending on the location and the number of kids enrolled. Some of our programs are subsidized by the Montgomery County Recreation Department. Please contact us for more information.

Does my child need to be an “athlete” to participate in the program?

The answer is NO! We encourage all children to participate in the program, both athletes and non-athletes. The program is designed to teach kids at their own pace in a non-competitive environment.

What if my child is uncoordinated or overweight?

All kids, not just athletes, need physical activity; this is especially helpful for the psychological well-being of children that have problems with coordination or weight.

Is my child too young to work out?

No. In fact, the American Heart Association recommends that children and adolescents participate in at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity everyday.

Is my child too young to lift weights?

No. According to the American Council on Exercise and Fitness, as long as they are able to accept and follow directions (usually around the age of 8), there is no evidence to support that weight lifting would be detrimental to their health.

What, if any, benefits will my child get from the YEAH Program?

The YEAH Program will improve muscular fitness, bone density, motor skills and coordination, and most of all decrease the chance of injury.

How do I promote physical activity in my child?

  • Reduce sedentary time by cutting down the amount of time your child spends watching TV, playing video games or talking on the phone.

  • Make physical activity fun for children and adolescents.

  • Parents should be role models for an active lifestyle and provide children with opportunities to participate in physical activities.

How can I improve my child’s eating habits?

Stock your refrigerator with healthy foods and snacks such as fruits and vegetables. Never underestimate the importance of family mealtime-eating a home cooked meal together is a great way to promote healthy values to your child.

What is the difference between functional training and physical activity?

Physical activity is something that every child can do regardless of his or her current fitness level or weight. Functional training is something that needs to be taught so that your child can improve motor skills and coordination. We teach a multi-lateral approach to training that will help children develop a variety of fundamental skills and reduce the risk of injury.
